Litigation Associate - Medical Malpractice & Civil Defense

Tacoma, Washington | Hybrid

A well-established Pacific Northwest litigation firm is expanding its Tacoma office and seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who want to develop into strong litigators through meaningful case responsibility, hands-on mentorship, sophisticated matters, and direct experience with seasoned trial attorneys-without sacrificing long-term quality of life.

The firm's practice is primarily focused on medical malpractice and healthcare defense, with attorneys also handling a broader range of civil litigation matters. Prior medical malpractice experience is welcomed but not required. Strong general litigation experience and an interest in developing within healthcare litigation are highly valued.

The Opportunity

Associates will gain substantive involvement throughout the litigation lifecycle rather than being limited to narrow assignments. Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

• Managing discovery and developing case strategy

• Drafting motions, briefs, and other substantive pleadings

• Taking and defending depositions

• Working with medical and other expert witnesses

• Attending hearings, mediations, and other proceedings

• Preparing matters for trial

• Communicating directly with clients

• Working closely with experienced attorneys on complex, high-stakes cases

The firm is particularly interested in attorneys with approximately 3+ years of litigation experience, although candidates at different experience levels may be considered. Medical malpractice, healthcare, professional liability, insurance defense, or other sophisticated civil litigation experience would translate particularly well.

Compensation

Ideal Background

Candidates should be admitted to practice in Washington and bring strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. Approximately three years of litigation experience is preferred.

Prior medical malpractice defense experience is not required. Attorneys coming from other litigation practices who have strong transferable skills and a genuine interest in healthcare and medical malpractice litigation are encouraged to apply.
