Job Overview A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Removal Defense in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role involves representing clients in removal proceedings and requires regular visits to immigration detention centers throughout Louisiana.Duties Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court.Conduct regular visits to immigration detention centers to meet with clients and prepare cases.Prepare and argue motions, briefs, and appeals, including BIA filings.Conduct master calendar and individual hearings.Develop case strategy for various immigration reliefs.Interview clients and prepare supporting evidence and affidavits.Maintain accurate and timely case documentation.Communicate clearly with clients regarding case status and options.Collaborate with legal staff and attorneys as needed.Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active bar membership in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).Admission to practice before EOIR or eligibility to obtain promptly.Prior experience in removal defense and immigration court preferred.Willingness and ability to travel regularly to detention centers.Spanish fluency preferred.Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications Active bar membership in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).Skills Experience with asylum and complex removal defense cases.Fluency in additional languages a plus.Familiarity with immigration case management systems.Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.Benefits Opportunity to work on impactful, client-centered cases.
