NOW HIRING: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Full-Time Position

 

A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive market expansion, strengthen client relationships, and support revenue growth across engineering and construction markets.

 

This role is responsible for executing business development strategy, managing client engagement, building a strong sales pipeline, and supporting pursuit efforts that position the organization to win complex infrastructure and foundation projects.

 

This position is ideal for a relationship-driven professional who understands the heavy civil and specialty foundations industry and enjoys working at the intersection of strategy, operations, and client development.

What You’ll Do (Essential Duties & Responsibilities)

  • Engage with clients, vendors, partners, and third-party engineers to establish a sales pipeline and achieve capture goals within an assigned region
  • Engage clients at industry relevant conferences and work with management and marketing to ensure messaging, attendance, and investment efficiently drive growth
  • Develop and use contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes
  • Provide direction and coaching to operations and estimating to develop collateral content, presentations, proposals, videos, social media content, and advertising to drive growth for the various businesses within assigned markets
  • Make suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts
  • Administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts, as required
  • During bidding, provide input to establish pursuit strategies, articulate value propositions, and properly prepare proposals through storyboarding and review of sales messaging and materials
  • During the annual business planning process, prepare account plans for the territory that incorporate overall, accessible, and attainable market objectives with anticipated forecasting of revenues from assigned clients
  • Monitor and analyze competition regionally and provide real-time input to business leaders on noteworthy shifts that may represent threats or opportunities
  • Actively engage in regular business development meetings and weekly progress calls

What You Bring (Qualifications & Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the engineering and construction industry, particularly in heavy civil and special foundations
  • Ability to work closely with project teams and stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of industry practices and standards
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, understand, and organize construction plans and specifications
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal structure while exercising sound judgment
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
