Overview

Saint John's Hospital is seeking an Associate Chief Medical Officer to join their team! They will direct and oversee the medical staff personnel practicing within UF Health St Johns and Durbin locations. Facilitates medical staff interactions between the hospital and its medical staff. Works with Chief Medical Officer in the development of medical staff policies and procedures. The Associate Chief Medical Officer will be a key representative for UF Health St Johns and Durbin. Will work in coordination with the Chief Medical Officer in physician recruitment, credentialing, discipline and continuing medical education.

Responsibilities

Initiate, oversee and integrate with the existing programs a comprehensive medical safety program in efforts to improve the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, and make recommendations for performance improvement activities related to medical safety. Oversee reporting of events as required by regulatory agencies in collaboration with Corporate Compliance/Risk Management/Legal Affairs.

Qualifications

Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school.

Preference: Master's degree in hospital, healthcare, business administration.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years post residency/fellowship clinical practice of which 3 must have been in a leadership capacity in an academic medical center.

Lincensure: Board certified or Board eligible physician, licensed (MD/DO with unrestricted medical license) to practice medicine in the State of Florida. Member of the hospital medical staff.

Preferences: Ten plus years of progressively related work experience as a senior clinical leader in an academic healthcare system or with specific prior experience in a leadership role overseeing quality and safety initiatives in a complex academic healthcare organization or hospital system.

2. Communication and interpersonal skills to persuade and negotiate in situations that are controversial and/ sensitive and may result in authoritative decisions. Ability to exercise almost complete discretion in how and what to communicate.

3. Project management skills, including the ability to define program project or process objective, identify stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological, and fiscal resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful and timely manner.

4. Leadership skills, including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability; comfort with decision-making responsibilities; coaching, teaching, and counseling skills; and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support.

5. An in-depth knowledge of regulations and guidelines for governing areas of responsibility.
