Duties Description About the Role:
The Associate Commissioner for Support Services leads a statewide team which provides operational and logistics support services for our partner agencies, including federal and state contract administration, internal program risk management, and implementing management controls across the business units. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner for Real Estate (DRE), the Associate Commissioner serves on the Executive Leadership Team.
This role will lead our agency's efforts to providing statewide logistic support for key services, including Consolidated Warehousing & Distribution Operations, State Surplus Property Program, Federal Property Assistance Program, USDA Food Distribution Program, Central Printing Services, Mail & Freight Services, Dockmaster Operations and the Screening Room. The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in leading multifaceted logistics units, is a servant leader, dives into knotty operational needs, and focuses on outcomes over egos. Their managerial objective is to provide data-informed service excellence, while also fostering a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performance culture.
Our ideal candidate will bring proven managerial experience in Support Services, with deep seated experience in operational oversight, maintaining high safety standards, efficiency and supply chain operations. They have a strong command of distribution strategies, supplier and vendor management, inventory and warehousing services. That said, we are looking for more than a manager; we are looking for a strategic visionary that aligns logistics with organizational strategies, and a deep love of public service. The Associate Commissioner must be nimble, forward leaning, and good humored, and emotionally intelligent. Key Responsibilities
The Associate Commissioner for Support Services will provide leadership to a diverse team of leaders, managers, and staff across each of Programming and Resource Management's operational teams, including:
The Associate Commissioner for Support Services must ensure the appropriate implementation of State and Federal procurement laws, NYS Civil Service Law and policies, contract law, and annual budget directives across the agency. The incumbent will represent the operations and logistics needs of the agency with key stakeholders from other agencies, including the Executive Chamber, Division of the Budget (DOB), State Operations, Division of State Police, Office of Employee Relations (OER), and Legislature, as well as private companies and vendors that provide key services to the agency.

Minimum Qualifications Twelve years* of progressive experience leading or managing a large organization with responsibility over the planning, development, and coordination of policies and procedures for the purpose of achieving short- or long-range goals including overseeing and managing contracts and procurement of services or goods for the organization.
