Associate Corporation Counsel

The City of Yonkers Office of the Corporation Counsel is accepting applications for one (1) attorney position. This is a full-time litigation position that involves handling cases in state and federal court and includes representing the City in personal injury and property damage litigation matters from the notice of claim stage/commencement of action through disposition. The attorney hired for this position will be drafting pleadings, engaging in extensive discovery, appearing at court conferences, conducting examinations under oath and settlement negotiations, drafting motions, handling trials in state and federal court, and appeals.

Based upon the current operating needs of the Office of the Corporation Counsel, however, the preferred legal experience qualifications for this attorney position are as follows:

1. Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting trials in state or federal court

2. Experience handling general tort litigation including trials

Salary Range: The annual salary range is $110,000 to $142,000.

Civil Service Job Classification: Non-Competitive
