Job TitleMuseum Education & Public Programs CoordinatorLocationChandler, Arizona, United States (on-site)Employment DetailsFull-Time; Indefinite duration; Salary: $73,819.00 - $106,995.00 per yearJob SummaryThe City of Chandler Cultural Development Department seeks a qualified individual for the Museum Education & Public Programs Coordinator role. The position involves 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday, with flexible weekend work (at most every other weekend). The Chandler Museum, part of a cultural destination, offers engaging, community‑focused programs, traveling exhibits, and world‑class in‑house exhibits.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervises and oversees daily operations of the assigned area; sets goals and objectives; manages schedules, work priorities, and performance evaluations; provides guidance, training, and resource access; conducts interviews and hiring decisions.Assists the Museum Manager and Senior Program Manager with program development, implementation, and contributions to the Museum's strategic plan.Works collaboratively with other institutions and community partners.Researches and develops written materials and presentations for educational programs and exhibits.Oversees development of program curricula and learning goals for all public‑facing programs (pre‑K through adult). Plans and executes educational activities including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs aligned with museum exhibitions.Develops and oversees field‑trip programs in partnership with local school districts.Oversees the creation of interactive exhibition components (e.g., interpretive materials) and ensures alignment with educational objectives.Analyzes visitor feedback and program effectiveness; reports findings to stakeholders and recommends improvements.Manages, trains, and schedules education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and performance evaluations.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProficiency in standard museum operating procedures, exhibit planning, development, implementation, and collections management.Experience developing educational programming for children and adults; knowledge of local history; public‑relations and marketing skills; strong written and oral communication.Knowledge of OSHA, state, and county regulations and city policies for risk management and safety.Supervisory experience and performance‑evaluation skills; ability to coordinate multiple tasks and use computer software.Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; ability to operate a motor vehicle.Strong public‑image presentation and effective interpersonal relationships with city employees and visitors.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or related field.At least 3 years experience within a museum setting.At least 3 years experience in education and programming within a museum setting.Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and work in an office environment.Additional RequirementsAbility to communicate clearly (oral and written), observe accurately, operate standard office equipment and a personal computer, and maintain mobility and flexibility suitable for office duties.Travel0–10% required.Job ID84858436#J-18808-Ljbffr
