The ideal candidate will be a specialist in early modern art history, who possesses the capability and willingness to work across the breadth of the collection and with diverse graphic media. This opportunity entails developing new research directions, continually expanding knowledge of the collections, building on areas of collection strength, and establishing new opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. The new associate curator of prints and drawings will develop a reputation as a major contributor to the field by proposing innovative exhibitions and programming, spearheading impactful publications, and representing the GRI through public presentations and lectures.Major Job ResponsibilitiesApply advanced knowledge of art history and art education to complex curatorial assignmentsPerform complex scholarly research to support the institutional missionOrganize significant exhibitions, major publications, or major acquisitionsCultivate connections nationally and internationally with scholars and museum colleaguesActively participate in acquisitions and collection developmentPublish and lecture in area of specializationAssess conservation needs of the collections; participate in digitization; assess loan requestsCollaborate in and may lead research projects; share collections and/or serve as a resource to scholars, visitors, and staffQualificationsMaster's degree or PhD in art history, or a related discipline OR 4–7 years of curatorial experienceFluency in at least one foreign language (related to field of specialization) requiredSkilled in all curatorial functionsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to build long‑term relationships, collaborate and direct teams across disciplinesCompetent with collection management and digital asset management toolsAccomplished in art historical research and writingAbility to communicate and distill information for a specialized audience or the general publicAbility to adapt written material for a variety of audiences online or in printBenefits and PerksMedical, Dental and Vision insurance coverage, starting on date of hire.
