The Associate Dental Director provides support to the Dental Director with respect to the delivery of quality dental services in the ambulatory health care environment. The Associate Dental Director will support the coordination of the delivery of services with the Medical and Behavioral Health Departments within MACT. These services will be provided in a manner consistent with guidelines established by the organization, as well as State and Federal funding sources. The position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian health organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

Duties: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The Associate Dental Director's primary work responsibility is patient care, and includes the following services: a. Preventive Education b. Emergency Treatment c. Diagnostic d. Restorative Dentistry e. Periodontal Maintenance Therapy f. Prosthodontics g. Referrals for specialty care h. Referrals to other Health Center Departments
  2. In addition to the direct delivery of patient care, the Associate Dental Director will perform the following administrative functions: a. Monitor the quality assurance activities of the Dental Department. b. Assist in the development and coordination of all oral health activities of the Health Center. c. Supervise the dental staff, including making recommendations for hiring, promoting and disciplinary action as appropriate. d. In the absence of the Dental Director, conduct department meetings and represent the dental department at staff meetings and at meetings of professional groups. e. Assist with the development of Dental Department protocols and procedures. f. Participates in the processes for increasing Providers' productivity g. Comply with all MACT policies and procedures. h. Performs duties as requested or assigned by the Dental Director and/or the Executive Director.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from an accredited dental college. Must have a license to practice dentistry in California.
  2. Minimum of two year's professional experience in dentistry and administrative experience desirable.
  3. Current AHA BLS CPR card.
  4. Must adhere to the MACT Health Board, Inc. Corporate Code of Conduct.
  5. Must provide monthly report to Board of Directors on activities during the month.
