    Summary of Position\n \nDevelops, directs, and evaluates services to foster student success. Provides leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic coaching programs, services, policies, and intervention strategies that support student persistence and retention. Oversees service delivery, assesses program effectiveness through program and student outcome data, and collaborates with campus partners to coordinate support services and advance institutional degree completion goals. Delivers direct academic coaching, advising, and instruction to address student needs and support program objectives. Provides operational leadership and support for Academic Success Center programs and services as needed. Assists higher level administrators as applicable to the assigned area in the general oversight of operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective, including supervision of staff. \n \nPosition Information\n \nEssential Functions and Responsibilities: Develops and directs Academic Coaching services to promote student success. \n \nProvides leadership for academic support initiatives serving a variety of student populations, including, but not limited to, at-risk, conditionally admitted, and students requiring additional academic support. \n \nEstablishes and evaluates policies, practices, and intervention strategies; assesses program outcomes and student success metrics; and collaborates with campus partners to coordinate support services and advance student persistence, retention, and degree completion.\n \nProvides oversight and strategic direction for multiple programs, initiatives, or objectives, including supervision of managers. Establishes priorities and goals for assigned areas; develops staffing plans; approves work plans developed by lower-level managers; develops and implements unit-wide policies and procedures.\n \nDevelops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures for assigned areas. Interprets and adapts broader organizational policies to meet the specific needs of the department.\n \nParticipates directly in the strategic planning process for the department. Develops long-range plans, goals, and objectives for assigned areas aligned with broader organizational strategy.\n \nDirects the overall planning, implementation, and evaluation of multiple program areas or a major department/division function with significant operational complexity and resource requirements.\n \nProvides general oversight and administration of any assigned program, initiative, or objective, including supervision of staff. Assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hire; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; helps with the development of unit work procedures and policies.\n \nResearches and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding assigned area's policies and procedures as it relates to completion of work and/or provision of services; administers regulations and/or policies. \n \nPrepares reports and other information/documentation to assist the supervisor in strategic planning of the assigned area.??\n \nManages daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of a department's/division's overall programs and/or services.?? \n \nDesigns and delivers training materials and/or other supporting documentation necessary for the operation of the assigned area.\n \nAnalyzes complex data sets and prepares comprehensive reports with recommendations for leadership.\n \nResearches and recommends process improvements for departmental operations on a routine or regular basis. Evaluates effectiveness and recommends enhancements of services. \n \nParticipates and/or leads complex projects, including implementation plans, timelines, and resource requirements.\n \nCoordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned. \n \nRegularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives. \n \nPrepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate. \n \nGathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review?related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components. \n \nPrepares for and attends events. \n \nRemains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.\n \nOther Functions and Responsibilities: Trains new hires.\n \nPerforms other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.\n \nEquipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.\n \nWork Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday.\n \nPrimary Location: Youngstown\n \nSupervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and student employees.\n \nReports to: Director\n \nQualifications and Competencies\n \nRequired Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:None\n \nSponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status:This position is not eligible for sponsorship.\n \nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n \nKnowledge of: strategic planning process; policy administration; process improvement; supervisory techniques; university policies and procedures; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives; department/division policies and procedures; workplace safety practices and procedures; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.\n \nSkill in: use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division.\n \nAbility to: deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one task to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships. \n \n() Developed after employment.\n \nMinimum Qualifications:Atleast a bachelor's degree; at least four years of related experience; andexperience in higher education academic support or student retention programs.\n \nPreferred Qualifications:A master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, educational leadership, or another related field. Experience coordinating policies and processes for new and continuing students. Experience coordinating advising programs, services, or initiatives in support of student retention and completion. Experience supervising, leading, or coordinating the work of others. Experience tracking and analyzing data to evaluate outcomes, identify trends, and guide strategic interventions.\n \nPhysical Requirements:In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.\n \nSedentary:work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.\n\n
