Reports To: Vice President of IT / Chief Information Officer (CIO)

About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Associate Director/Director of Enterprise Applications to lead the strategy, implementation, support, and evolution of our corporate systems landscape. In this role, you will be responsible for the core software platforms that enable our Menarini Stemline Oncology business to scale efficiently, including SAP ERP, HRIS, expense management tools, and other critical enabling function systems (Finance, Legal, Procurement).

As a key IT leader at our biotech firm, you will bridge the gap between business strategy and technology execution. You will ensure our enterprise applications are robust, compliant (SOX/GxP), and capable of supporting our pipeline from clinical development through commercialization.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Define the Roadmap: Architect and execute a multi-year enterprise application roadmap aligned with the company’s scaling objectives.
  • Business Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders in Stemline Finance, HR, Legal, Procurement, and Supply Chain to understand their needs and deliver scalable technology solutions.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the Enterprise Applications capital and operating expense budgets (CapEx/OpEx), ensuring maximum ROI on software investments.
  • Represent Stemline business needs with the SAP COE within Menarini Corporate IT and manage the Change Advisory board for Stemline.

Application Management & Delivery

  • ERP Ownership: Lead the optimization, lifecycle management, and support of the SAP ERP ecosystem for Stemline, ensuring seamless integration with supply chain, QA and commercial functions, working with the Menarini SAP COE team to maintain enterprise standards.
  • Enabling Functions Support: Oversee the corporate systems portfolio, including HRIS (e.g., Workday or SuccessFactors), SAP Concur (expense management), and procurement platforms.
  • Integration Strategy: Champion modern integration standards to ensure data flows seamlessly and securely across disparate corporate systems and cloud platforms.
  • Data Analytics: Partner with business intelligence teams to ensure enterprise applications provide robust, reliable reporting and actionable data analytics.

Compliance, Quality & Security

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial and corporate systems adhere to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance, internal controls, and data privacy regulations (GDPR/CCPA).
  • Biotech Context: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure applications impacting clinical/manufacturing pipelines comply with GxP validation and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines where applicable.
  • Cybersecurity: Partner with the Information Security team to enforce rigorous access controls, vulnerability management, and data protection strategies across all corporate applications.

Team Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Vendor Ecosystem: Manage strategic relationships with major software vendors (SAP, HRIS providers) and system integrators. Lead contract negotiations, SLA management, and software renewals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7- 10+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 3-5 years in a role managing enterprise applications.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with SAP ERP (ECC or S/4HANA), including at least two functional areas: FI/CO, MM, SD, or HR/HCM.
  • Proven ownership of SAP Concur or a comparable T&E platform, including end-to-end configuration and finance integration.
  • Experience leading HRIS implementations or major upgrades (Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in system integrations, middleware, and API-driven architectures (MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, SAP Integration Suite, or similar).
  • Demonstrated delivery of large-scale, cross-functional ERP or enterprise application programs in a regulated industry.
  • Working knowledge of SOX ITGC compliance, change management controls, and IT audit support.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and business-partnership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment with familiarity with GxP and CSV (Computer System Validation) practices.
  • SAP Certified Application Associate or Professional designation.
  • Exposure to ERP vendor evaluation and RFP processes.
  • PMP, or SAFe Agile certification.

The Company

Founded in 1886 in Naples under the name of Farmacia Internazionale, Menarini moved in 1915 to Florence where the Group’s headquarters are still located today. High quality therapeutics and diagnostics solutions for patients, ethics as our underlying principle, dedication to innovation and advancement, strong people centricity and environmental sustainability. These five pillars form the foundation of the Menarini Group, an Italian pharmaceutical company with nearly 135 years of history.

The Menarini Group is present in 70 countries and our products are sold in 140 locations around the world. Its companies span from Europe to Asia, to Africa and the Middle East, to Central America and to the United States where with the acquisition of Stemline Therapeutics, a NASDAQ-listed biopharmaceutical company, the company marked its entry into the US oncology market.

Thanks to the valuable contribution of around 18,000 employees, every year more than 500 million packs of drugs are produced at the Group's 18 manufacturing sites including a biotech plant for the manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies that also serves external clients distributed across 6 continents.

Menarini has made a strong commitment to oncology, investing in a pipeline of five investigational compounds for the treatment of a variety of haematological and solid tumours. The acquisition of Stemline Therapeutics in June 2020, further strengthened Menarini’s oncology portfolio, adding both commercial and clinical-stage assets. Tagraxofusp is a novel, first in class targeted therapy for patients with blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) and to date, the only approved treatment for BPDCN in the U.S. and EU, and the first and only approved CD123-targeted therapy. Tagraxofusp is also being evaluated as both a single agent and in combination, in other CD123+ indications, including acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML), and myelofibrosis (MF).

Additionally, Menarini received exclusive rights to commercialise Selinexor for the treatment of oncology indications in the European Union and other European countries (including the United Kingdom), Latin America and other key countries. Menarini has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Karyopharm Therapeutics for the rights to commercialise an innovative therapeutic option in Europe, Latin America, Turkey, Russia, and CIS countries. Selinexor is a first-in-class, oral Selective Inhibitor of Nuclear export compound for the treatment of hematologic cancers and solid tumours. It is already marketed in the US for multiple myeloma and is under development for solid tumour indications. Selinexor is registered in the EU for both early and late lines.

Menarini entered into a global licence agreement with Radius Health to complete the development of Elacestrant, an oral SERD in late-stage Phase 3 development for hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer. Following a successful phase 3 study, Menarini Stemline received FDA approval in January 2023 under priority review and successfully oversaw a strong launch in February to the US market with the EMA review process concluded positively in September 2023.

It is an exciting time in the company’s development and an excellent opportunity for individuals joining us to contribute to building and shaping Menarini Stemline’s Oncology business.
