    Position Summary

    The Associate Director, Giving Days & Emerging Donor Strategies will oversee the development and execution of direct marketing programs aimed at driving alumni donor participation, build lifetime loyalty, and raise maximum spendable dollars for WashU’s top Annual Fund priorities. This role will oversee key efforts including giving days and will partner with University Advancement colleagues to drive the direct marketing strategies for reunion giving, student philanthropy and parent giving.

    The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs and will work in close collaboration and partnership with Advancement Communications, Alumni & Constituent Engagement, Philanthropic Strategies, Donor Relations, and other internal partners and external vendors.

    Job Description

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Giving Day Programs – In partnership with Advancement Communications, and other key stakeholders, oversee the planning and execution of three giving day campaigns: First Day, Giving Tuesday, and WashU Giving Day. Lead collaborations to establish and execute print, digital, and social communication strategies, including solicitations and stewardship efforts. Champion student and faculty/staff participation through establishing on-campus presence. Drive donor and alumni engagement through facilitating volunteer opportunities.
    • Reunion Giving – Oversee the strategy for reunion giving through direct marketing channels. Partner with Alumni & Constituent Engagement colleagues to develop annual appeal schedule to optimize reunion class giving efforts in order to increase donor participation. Partner with Executive Director, Annual Giving Programs to secure and promote reunion donor challenges for most classes.
    • Student Philanthropy – Partner with Student Affairs and Alumni & Constituent Engagement colleagues to drive and implement strategy in educating students about the importance of philanthropy and drive donor participation results. Part of this effort is collaboration with the senior class gift program.
    • Parent Giving – In partnership with Advancement Communications and Student Affairs colleagues, drive direct marketing messaging and strategy for parent giving.
    • Other duties as assigned – work closely with Executive Director and Senior Director to provide any additional support needed to ensure donor participation goals are met.

    • Experience in nonprofit advancement/development/fundraising, alumni/donor relations, or a field requiring the application of similar skills including marketing and communications, program/project management, etc.
    • Experience planning and managing complex programs, projects, or marketing campaigns: setting timelines and priorities, analyzing data, working with complex reporting and data sets, coordinating work among multiple teams, maintaining vendor relationships, developing and managing organized systems of processes and protocols, etc.
    • Knowledge of university environment; experience working in educational/nonprofit organization setting is a plus.
    • Experience using database, website/online form solutions, and other software platforms. Familiarity with Vanillasoft or ClickUp a plus.

    This position is located in St. Louis, MO and the targeted hiring range for this position is $58,400 - $66,000.

    Salary Range

    $58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
