Here's a summary of responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Impact Funds leads the day-to-day management of the USOPF’s Impact Funds and aligned Circles, restricted giving initiatives that advance organizational priorities and athlete-centered impact. The role drives disciplined execution across fund strategy, donor engagement, stewardship, and reporting, helping ensure these priorities are translated into clear funding opportunities and meaningful donor experiences.
 
This position serves as the process owner and cross-functional integrator for Impact Funds and Circles, building and maintaining repeatable workflows that connect priorities, funding opportunities, donor experiences, and measurable impact over time. The Associate Director plays a critical role in aligning internal stakeholders around fund strategy, supporting frontline fundraising efforts, and strengthening the systems and communications that enable effective fund execution and stewardship.
 
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
Impact Fund Strategy & Program Leadership (40%) 
  • Lead annual planning for Impact Funds, translating stakeholder input into clear priorities, funding needs, and engagement strategies in partnership with Sport and Athlete Services.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Impact Funds and aligned Circles, ensuring coordinated execution across internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • Position Funds as clear, compelling funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and frontline fundraising needs.
  • Own and refine the end-to-end fund management process, including planning, advisor engagement, stewardship, and follow-through.
  • Serve as the central integrator across Sport, Fundraising, Communications, and Stewardship to ensure consistent execution of fund strategy.
Fund Development & Cross-Functional Alignment (30%) 
  • Lead preparation for advisor meetings, including narrative development, materials, participant readiness, and follow-up.
  • Translate organizational priorities and technical needs into donor-facing funding opportunities by aligning priorities, proposals, and donor investments with internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Fundraising staff to integrate Funds into donor strategies and proposals for principal and campaign gifts.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Development, Finance, Legal, Communications, and other internal teams to ensure seamless execution of Impact Fund and Circle initiatives.
  • Document decisions, action items, and funding opportunities, and track follow-through to completion.
Communications & Donor Engagement (20%) 
  • Define messaging frameworks and partner with Communications to develop clear, consistent donor-facing materials and narratives for Impact Funds and Circles.
  • Develop engagement strategies that activate and steward donors while aligning donor experience with fund priorities.
  • Define the strategic framework for Giving Circle engagement, including structure, messaging, and alignment to fund priorities, in partnership with Engagement, Communications, and Fundraising teams responsible for execution.
Process & Systems Management (10%)
  • Ensure accurate tracking of fund activity, including contributions, allocations, engagement, and outcomes, with clear visibility across systems.
  • Oversee the connection between donor intent, fund utilization, and reported impact, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, clarity, and execution across stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with Finance and internal teams to support reporting, reconciliation, and transparency of Fund performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a preferred emphasis in Sports Management, Business Administration, Communications or Economics or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in fundraising, sport management, consulting, or a related field
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into clear processes, priorities, and deliverables
  • Experience in advancement, restricted giving, or donor engagement is strongly preferred
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex priorities into clear donor-facing language
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor engagement, and stewardship practices
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and communicate fund performance
  • Strategic and operational problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Appreciation for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement and the power of sport

  • Hiring pay range: 
    • CO/National: $80,000 - $90,000 per year
    • LA: $94,000 - $105,000 per year
    • NY: $101,000 - $113,000 per year 
    • SF: $106,000 - $119,000 per year
  • This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
