POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director for Career and Personal Development is responsible for helping Alma College students develop meaningful connections and relationships with Alma College Alumni and other external constituents. The associate director is responsible for large scale events, networking experiences, and relationship building activities that fosters these relationships for Alma students in order to support their professional goals. This position collaborates extensively with the Diversity and Inclusion, Student Success, Academic Affairs, and Advancement as the department works to develop and implement a comprehensive, campus wide career development curriculum.

Supervision Received/Exercised:

This position reports to the Associate Provost for Student Success and supervises 5 - 7 Career Peers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Implement the First Destination Survey of Alma College graduates and prepare reports on the results as is needed.
• Supervise, train, and hire a team of 5-7 Career Peers, who provide one-on-one resume, application, and interview support to current students.
• Coordinate and market campus wide Career Fairs.
• Pair current students with Alumni mentors in support of the students professional development.
• Oversee the creation of Parent and Supporter Portal content creation.
• Organize off campus visits to various employers to provide students with the opportunity to network and explore professional opportunities.
• Partner with Alumni Services to host Etiquette and Networking Events that feature alumni networking opportunities.
• Meet one-on-one with current Alma students and Alumni to support their internship exploration, career exploration, and job search processes.
• Support the launch of Uconnect platform.
• Serve as a member of Career Communities committees, acting as the Career and Personal Development liaison to these teams.
• Serve on divisional and college committees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Previous higher education experience in an area related to career development.
• Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written).
• Ability to connect and build relationships with current students.
• Experience creating, managing, and assessing events and/or programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with campus partners, alumni, and professional partners.
• Self-motivated and goal oriented.
• Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of Alma College.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
