    Job Description:

    The Associate Director of Clinical Research works closely with the CTSI Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Director of Translational Work Force Development in the overall management and administrative direction of UF Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) programs. The Associate Director is primarily responsible for the management of major functions in Translational Workforce Development (TWD) and Research Navigation Support and often interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders, representing the department or organization in strategic meetings or partnerships within the NIH/NCATS CTSA consortium.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Oversee the design, development and implementation of Clinical Research Professional (CRP) development, education and training programs in the Translational Workforce Development program to include CRP cross-campus mentor program.
    • Manage and oversee the Translational Workforce Development MD/PhD (TWD-K12 and T32) Administration Team. The team consists of a Medical Science Training Program (MSTP) Admin Support member, a MSTP Coordinator, a T32 Training and HSC Career Development Program Manager, and the TWD Program Manager. Day-to-day responsibility to include operations of the UF MSTP across the eight years of a Scholar’s curriculum leading to fulfillment of requirements for MD degree, PhD degree and MSTP goals and milestones; identifying, recruiting, matriculating, evaluating, and following after graduation prospective and current UF MD-PhD Scholars in the UF MSTP; management and coordination of the CTSI T32 Training, K12 Scholar, and HSC Career & Professional Development Programs; and management and coordination of the CTSI Workforce Development Program (TWD).
    • Coordinate activities administered by the Translational Workforce Development in the development and implementation of Professional Development Courses and collaborative programs to include UF+FSU CTSA hub as well as additional CTSA cross-hub initiatives.
    • Facilitate and advise Research Professionals Networks and CTSA Working Groups/Programs for Coordinator Excellence in Human Subject Research and support coordinator mentorship programs. Leads and contributes to manuscript development for clinical research professional workforce development across the CTSA consortium.
    • Serve on the management teams and participate in the strategic planning with the CTSI COO and Translational Workforce Development Directorate. The Associate Director will be responsible for ensuring that all CTSI Service and Translational Workforce Development programs, activities, and series comply with university, state, and federal regulation and provide guidance & direction in CTSI Service Center and Translational Workforce Development programs and maintaining a collaborative working environment.
    • Participate in formulating and implementing policies and procedures for Translational Workforce Development Directorate and manage resources of Translational Workforce Development to support CTSI’s ability to understand, promote and strengthen human subject research. 
    Expected Salary:

    $120,000 - $130,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience. 

    Required Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.

    Preferred:
    • R.N. with Clinical Research Coordinator experience
    • Requires a very high degree of experience and professional competence in the relevant areas, skill and integrity
    • Ability to practice to a high level of skill in client service, collaboration, professionalism, accountability (including effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness, and quality), integrity, and sustainability
    • Ability to manage and prioritize a varied workload to timely accomplish the work to very high standards
    • Ability to effectively train, support career development of, and supervise the work of less experienced staff
    • Ability to collaborate at all levels of the University and its affiliates and to lead and inspire as appropriate
    • Self-initiative, excellent judgment as to when to communicate and seek guidance from Directors
    • Passion for and an understanding the educational and research core objectives of the University and the CTSI should enable the accomplishments of these core objectives whenever possible
    • Attention to detail while maintaining sight of the overall objective and how to achieve it
    • Diligent and dedicated work ethic
