Summary:

  • The individual in this position is responsible for the administrative and operational oversight of Radiology Services treating both inpatient and outpatient populations. The individual has the following responsibilities in order to ensure that the hospital mission and goals are achieved: Oversight for all Federal, State and local regulatory standards (Joint Commission, DOH, FDA, HIPPA, etc.), human resource issues including recruitment, mentoring staff leaders, staff retention, orientation, credentialing and initiation and annual completion of the performance appraisal process. Operational responsibilities include policy and procedure development, staffing, scheduling, coordination of daily activities, payroll, regulatory compliance, vendor management, equipment evaluation and procurement, and educational development of staff. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining efficient, cost-effective delivery of the major services provide by the department which include, but are not limited to, diagnostic testing, therapeutic interventions and patient assessment/monitoring in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The individual in this position will work collaboratively with each Medical Director to maintain oversight of all department activities, coordinate research, implement CEQI and performance improvement measures within the department and maintain continuous accreditation readiness. Fiscal responsibility includes budgetary planning for capital and operational needs in partnership with the Administrative Director. The individual will seek to limit explainable variances, operate within the annual budget, and continually seek cost-saving opportunities. The incumbent will assume Administrative Director responsibilities in absentia of the Administrative Director and act as a designee for normal operations. The positions reporting directly to the incumbent include the Radiology Clinical supervisory Staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Satisfaction: Manage and eliminate process workarounds by appropriately and consistently sharing with organizational partners the issues, which require their attention. Review Survey comments and follow-up where appropriate monthly. Analyze the data on a quarterly basis and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Development: Development of staff - Encourages continuous growth and helps staff to realize full potential by identifying stretch objectives and creating learning plans Effective and timely performance management such that:o Clearly defines work expectationso Recognizes and rewards individuals for a job well done.o Addresses performance issues immediately and directly.o Conducts performance appraisals annually

  • Establish/update processes and work practices for the unit/department. Build work practices and team processes for Improvement:1. Patient-Centered: provide care that is responsible to individual patient preferences, needs and values and assuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.4. Timely: reduce waits and sometimes-harmful delays for both those who receive care and those who give care.5. Efficient: avoid waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy.6. Equitable: provide care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location or socio- economic status. In conjunction with all stakeholders involved in the patient care processes, institute operational changes based on data. Communicate, reinforce, and update as necessary environment of care procedures, (e.g. safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency, medical equipment, and utility management.) Continuously improve unit/department operations to maintain and exceed internal/external regulatory compliance and achieve clinical excellence. Participates in and supports patient safety goals and initiatives (FMEA,RCA) Establish clinical effectiveness targets and strategies annually Actively participate in CEQI initiatives and goalsManage team and individual performance. Communicate roles, accountabilities and performance measures to all staff. Identify unit quality metrics, review and track monthly
  • communicate to the staff, and develop/implement action plans to improve performance.Regulatory Compliance: (In partnership with Leadership Team) Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory standards and requirements, including Joint Commission, Department of Health, funding agencies, FDA, HIPAA, and others Demonstrates understanding of Magnet standards and aligns organization to meet them.
  • Financial Management Partners with Administrative Director in developing and implementing capital and operating budgets using system wide standards and processes. Review Financial Reports. Partners with Admin, in absentia of Administrative Director, to develop performance targets, report variances and create remediation plans Partners with Admin and CFO, in absentia of Administrative Director, to provide financial planning and analysis Ensure department practices are in alignment with UPHS supply chain management strategy Equipment evaluation and procurement
  • Change Management Proactively develops change management strategy for major organizational activities and events Implements change management strategy within Department and UPHS in alignment with UPHS objectives. Identifies and facilitates communication of major messages which are consistent and reflect UPHS’ core values Demonstrates recognition of the systemic impact of employee communication and/or policy changes and solicits proactive feedback prior to implementation. Evaluates effectiveness of change and implementation plans.
  • Workforce Planning: Talent management plan in place for current and future staff Succession plan in place for critical positions
  • Attract/Recruit: Recruitment of competent staff to meet operational needs and who demonstrate the ability to be service orientation and align with the core values Provide proper orientation of staff to their roles, accountabilities and performance measures within probationary period

Credentials:

  • Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)
  • Current Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

    Salary Range:

    $99,906.14 - $154,643.42/Annually based on 40 hours per week
