    Job Summary

    The Office of Summer and Winter Sessions advances student access, success, and affordability through strategic campus partnerships. The office uses data-informed decision-making, strategic scholarships, curriculum management, and credit-earning academic programs to empower students and engage pre-college learners.

    The Associate Director of Summer Sessions administers and oversees departmental programs and processes, serves as a proxy for the Director, and plays a key role in contributing to the development of strategies and cultivating a positive work culture. The position contributes to goal development, planning efforts, and short-term operational plans that directly align with departmental strategies. The Associate Director provides measurable input, contributes to data-driven strategies, spearheads targeted communications, implements plans, and monitors scholarship awards. The role also supports the Director in carrying out established departmental strategies that improve program efficiency and effectiveness.

    Primary Responsibilities Include

    • Serve as the primary supervisor for one Assistant Director and one Summer Beginners Coordinator
    • Manage the summer scholarships process and coordinating with the financial aid team
    • Lead the selection process for summer courses participating in the Office of the Provost guaranteed program
    • Engage with faculty, the University Undergraduate Academic Advising team, and academic advisors
    • Promote summer opportunities for continuing students

    The Associate Director balances multiple program priorities, manages time effectively, and remains intrinsically motivated to meet deadlines and daily objectives impacting various programs within the department. The role oversees programs, marketing efforts, uses detailed information gathering and analysis to collect data, supervises team members, and builds relationships with students, families, and community organizations.

    Success in this position requires close collaboration with the Division of Financial Aid, University Residences, units in Enrollment Management, Academic Advising, Student Success, academic units, and Purdue Polytechnic High School. It also requires regular use of enterprise reporting and student information systems.

    The Associate Director is a recognized subject matter expert under limited oversight that reports to the Director for the Office of Summer and Winter Sessions. A hybrid work schedule may be possible outside of peak seasons. Occasional travel is required..

    What We're Looking For:

    Education and Experience

    Qualified candidates will need:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • Six (6) years of relevant professional experience
    • Experience contributing to strategic planning and working independently
    • In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience; Associates + 6 years experience or HS/GED + 10 years of experience.

    Skills:

    • Exhibit excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to interact with various constituents with unique needs (students, faculty, staff, campus and community partners, and parents).
    • Significant experience and competency with Excel, Word, Qualtrics, enterprise reporting systems like Cognos and navigating student information systems like Slate and Banner.
    • Demonstrate experience managing serval projects and working in a fast-paced environment and flexibility with change.
    • Be a self-starter with strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, efficiently multi-task, work under pressure, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines.
    • Have the competency to perform detailed analysis, interpret, apply, follow, and contribute to the creation of policies and procedures.
    • Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
    • Be energetic, creative, and professional, and possess a positive attitude.
    • Have the capacity to always represent the University with tact and diplomacy.
    • Evidence of commitment to maximizing access and success of all student populations.

    Nice to Have:

    • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, educational leadership, school counseling, or related field
    • Relevant professional experiences demonstrating outcomes.
    • Experiences with cross-campus collaboration, or working with secondary or college students to facilitate access or success.

    The anticipated annual salary range for this position is mid-70s.The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
