ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR-WELLNESS-STUDENT AFFAIRS

General Responsibilities:

Oversees the development and implementation of programs that promote the overall well-being of students across UAB, addressing physical, mental, emotional, and social health.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, develops, facilitates, and evaluates primary prevention, health education, and health promotion initiatives, ensuring they are effective and responsive to the needs of the UAB student body.

  2. Provides leadership and direction for the peer health education program, including training, supervision, and ongoing support for student peer educators. Ensures the program aligns with best practices in health promotion and meets the needs of the student population.

  3. Supervises professional and paraprofessional staff, ensuring effective hiring, training, employment policies and protocols, supervision, and professional development.

  4. Oversees department outreach for social media and marketing of programs and services.

  5. Manages program budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support program goals and objectives.

  6. Collaborates with university and community partners to develop and implement comprehensive initiatives focused on student health, wellness, and safety. Works across departments to integrate wellness initiatives into broader campus programs.

  7. Assist the Director with overall department operations, strategic planning, policy development, and program evaluation.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $55,180 - $62,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master''s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Psychology or a related field and three (3) years of related experience is required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

Currently licensed as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) preferred.
