Job Description
Summary
Join a respected estate and elder law practice helping families navigate sophisticated planning, aging, incapacity, and end-of-life matters. This experienced attorney will immediately support the Managing Member/Founder while independently handling complex estate planning and elder law matters. This is a specialized position requiring at least five years of direct Estate Planning and Elder Law experience. Attorneys whose backgrounds are primarily in unrelated or general practice areas will not qualify.
What You’ll Be Doing
Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
Develop complex asset-protection and Medicaid planning strategies.
Advise clients on estate, inheritance, and tax implications.
Manage estate and trust administration matters.
Prepare fiduciary accounts and estate and inheritance tax returns.
Guide Medicaid spend-down strategies and application processes.
Represent clients in Medicaid fair hearings when needed.
Handle guardianships, will contests, and trust-related litigation.
Advise families during death, incapacity, and elder-care crises.
Advocate for elderly clients in institutional and home-care settings.
Communicate with courts, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and advisors.
Supervise paralegals and oversee accurate matter progression.
What You’ll Need
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active New Jersey attorney license in good standing.
5+ years of direct Estate Planning and Elder Law experience required.
Experience managing estate, trust, Medicaid, or guardianship matters.
Ability to independently manage complex and sensitive client situations.
Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and client-counseling skills.
Elder law litigation and crisis-management experience strongly preferred.
Direct elder-care advocacy experience strongly preferred.
LL.M. in Elder Law or Estate Planning strongly preferred.
Ability to work full-time onsite and additional hours when necessary.
