Rate of Pay: $135,741 to $175,000 per year
Duties: Advance the quality of medicine in the practice and provide exceptional client service to
clients and patients. Build rapport with clients by gathering information, listening to, and empathizing with
their concerns. Communicate with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive
health care, and nutritional needs. Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or
injuries. Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds,
performing surgery, or other therapies while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. Manage a busy
caseload while providing exceptional customer service and the highest level of medicine. Perform outpatient
case care, emergency case triage and monitor hospitalized ER and specialty patients overnight. Triage
multiple patients at once, focusing on client education, perform emergency procedures and surgery, and
interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results. Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and
make certain all necessary logs are kept up to date through established protocols. Stay current on new
medical information and changes in veterinary medicine. Assist in the development of the paraprofessional
team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. Present a positive image
of the hospital in the professional community and to the public.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or foreign equivalent
and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Position requires:
interpretation, Blood pressure (doppler and ossilometric), and Ophthalmic diagnostics;
placement of urethral catheters, Endotracheal intubation, placement of temporary tracheostomy tubes,
basic surgery skills (laceration repair, abscess debridement), placement of feeding tubes (esophagostomy,
nasogastric), Advanced IV catheter placement (central lines, PICC lines), placement of nasal oxygen
cannulas, Hi flow oxygen administration, mechanical ventilation, blood product transfusion administration,
and Basic and Advanced CPR;
pressure management/use of vasopressors, appropriate antibiotic use/indications, pain management,
respiratory support (indications for oxygen administration, intubation, ventilation), and GI support
(antiemetics, prokinetics); and
License Requirements: Candidate must be a graduate from an AVMA accredited college or have
successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification program. Must be eligible
for state licensure.
