Associate Engineer - Gas Engineering Location: Rochester or Binghamton, NY | Work Type: OfficeSalary: Base salary $74,000‑$82,500, plus up to 10% bonus.Benefits Competitive benefits and growth opportunitiesGenerous performance‑based bonuses (12%)401(k) matchComprehensive health, dental, and vision insuranceTuition reimbursementProfessional development and clear career advancement pathwaysJob Summary This position is responsible for engineering and design of the gas transmission and distribution delivery systems in New York (NYSEG and RG&E) as well as in NH and ME. The gas delivery system in NY is approximately 121 miles of transmission main, 9,400 miles of distribution main, 840 regulator stations and 564,000 customers. Under supervision, the Associate Engineer supports mandated gas system integrity management (IM) programs/projects and the mandated corrosion control program. The role implements IM program components on identified gas transmission system piping, analyzes data, maintains High Consequence Area (HCA)/Identified Site inventory, supports threat evaluation risk modeling, revises IM procedures and records, and makes recommendations for remediation and system improvements. The engineer also provides technical and engineering support to the corrosion control program, evaluates system leak data, and interacts with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies, contractors, consultants, and SAP processes.Key Responsibilities Support gas transmission IM programs/projects and implement IM program components on identified piping.Analyze data and maintain the HCA/Identified Site inventory; compile and evaluate data for threat evaluation risk modeling of covered pipeline segments.Revise and maintain IM procedures, program records, results and analysis.Compile, analyze and maintain data to support IM program models.Interact with technical support contractors/consultants and utilize applicable SAP processes.Under higher‑level engineer direction, develop, revise and maintain construction and operating procedures and standards to meet safety, regulatory and reliability needs; assess regulatory changes; coordinate review, approval and distribution of O&M procedures or construction standards.Maintain and update O&M records databases; recommend replacements and improvements; track and report PSC rate case targets and respond to data requests.Help coordinate review and approvals for new tools and materials; prepare MID requests and update existing MIDs; approve new tools and equipment via the new‑tool approval process with subject‑matter experts.Compile reviews and update data to maintain IM models, including relative risk analysis and the IM data management program; interface with GIS/Mapping Department.Compile system leak data and main record information databases to develop a prioritized main replacement listing; interact with contractors/consultants and use SAP processes.Interface with Gas Planning, Engineering and Delivery and Gas Field Operations; provide engineering support for design, operation, maintenance and inspection of distribution and transmission systems.Apply appropriate codes, regulations, policies and procedures; interface with customers, developers, municipalities and agencies.Assist on complex projects or initiatives under supervision of Lead Engineers.Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Engineering.Valid driver's license.Analytical and problem‑solving skills.Preferred Qualifications Delivering for the Business: Global view of the Business –> INITIALAchieving Results and Continuous Improvements –> INITIALInitiative –> COMPETENTInnovation & Creativity –> INITIALGlobal Relationships: Flexibility & Globalization –> COMPETENTCustomer Focus –> COMPETENTCommunicating & Influencing –> INITIALTeam Work –> INITIALManaging People: Team Management –> INITIALDeveloping Others –> INITIAL#LI-OFFICE #LI-JO1Company ROCHESTER GAS & ELEC CORPEqual Employment Opportunity Statement At Avangrid we provide fair and equal employment and advancement opportunities for all employees and candidates regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, protected veteran status or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.
