This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering practical legal counsel on consumer finance, regulatory compliance, litigation management, licensing, contracting, and enterprise risk matters. Operating with significant independence, Counsel plays a key role in helping the organization navigate complex legal and regulatory environments.

  • Provide legal advice and strategic counsel to leaders across Credit, Funding, Collections, Servicing, Sales, Marketing, People Operations, Risk, Treasury, IT, and Finance.
  • Act as a key legal advisor to the Compliance Department, assisting with the interpretation of laws, regulations, and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Support cross-functional projects and business initiatives, helping ensure compliance with applicable federal and state consumer finance laws.
  • Manage and oversee litigation, regulatory inquiries, examinations, and enforcement matters, including coordinating with outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Review and guide responses to escalated customer complaints, regulatory complaints, and consumer protection inquiries.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of agreements, including technology contracts, vendor agreements, leases, and other business contracts.
  • Lead the acquisition, maintenance, renewal, and oversight of company licensing requirements across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with state and federal regulators regarding licensing, examinations, audits, and regulatory requests.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business and provide proactive guidance to mitigate risk.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced members of the Legal Department and support departmental development initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
