IT Field Support Technician III

Location: Columbus, IN (Travel Required)
Pay:$35.00–$40.00/hour (W-2), DOE
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

We're looking for an experienced IT Field Support Technician III to support a leading midstream oil & gas company. This role provides hands-on IT support for field locations throughout the Columbus, IN region and requires frequent travel to remote sites.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary IT support contact for assigned locations
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows 11 desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
  • Provide Tier II desktop and field support for hardware, software, networking, and mobile devices
  • Support LAN/WAN, wireless connectivity, and business applications
  • Install and maintain HP LaserJet and Konica Minolta printers
  • Manage support tickets, document resolutions, and maintain IT asset inventory
  • Assist with hardware/software deployments, upgrades, and IT infrastructure projects
  • Provide end-user training and exceptional customer support
  • Participate in after-hours support when needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (No sponsorship)
  • 2+ years of desktop or field IT support experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Windows 11
    • PC hardware and peripherals
    • LAN/WAN and wireless networking
    • Mobile device support (iOS/Android)
    • IT ticketing systems (BMC Remedy preferred)
  • Experience supporting HP LaserJet and Konica Minolta printers
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Oil & gas industry experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree and CompTIA A+, Network+, MCP, or similar certifications are preferred

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 80% travel
  • Daily travel within approximately a 200-mile radius of Columbus, IN
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Reliable personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursed)
  • Clean driving record required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
