Associate IT Systems Administrator
Classification: Full-Time, Staff Member, 52-Week Supervisor: IT Director
GBSC is currently seeking applications for the position of IT Systems Administrator. The IT Systems Administrator's basic function is to, primarily, maintain campus server technology and, secondly, assist in IT Help Desk operations.
Systems include:
• Server stack • Domain controller • Active Directory • Security cameras • Firewall • Network access (wired & wifi) • Printer connectivity • VOIP Telephone system • Google GSuite Apps for Education • Office and classroom technologies (K-12 & college)
Responsibilities
Primary Systems Administrator employee Secondary Help Desk employee Assist IT Help Desk Coordinator fulfill helpdesk tickets when necessary Make purchasing recommendations related to campus technology SIEM Management and Implementation
Plan, deploy, and manage a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution to monitor and respond to security incidents. Ensure continuous monitoring of network, servers, and endpoints for security breaches and unusual activity, responding to threats in real-time.
Incident Response and Threat Management
Develop and maintain the college's incident response plan, ensuring efficient response to data breaches, security incidents, and other emergencies. Perform regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to ensure system integrity and data security.
Cybersecurity Policy Development
Assist in the creation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures in accordance with legal and compliance requirements. Conduct security awareness training for staff and students to foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness on campus.
Firewall and Network Security
Manage and configure firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to safeguard network infrastructure. Oversee network access controls and ensure secure network segmentation for campus security.
Required Technical Qualifications
Four-year degree and one year of experience in the IT systems administrator field Experience supporting Windows server technology stacks Experience supporting VOIP phone systems
Preferred Technical Qualifications
Four-year degree and six+ years of experience in the information technology field Experience supporting Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016 servers Experience supporting Chromeboxes and Chromebooks Experience supporting Papercut or similar printer management software Experience implementing and supporting educational technology
