The NPI Warehouse team supports the full range of material strategies specific to Engineering, Pilot, and New Product Introduction. The NPI Warehouse team specializes in all processes of material coordination including: Supplier Shipments, Part Number Design and Release, Invoice Management, Warehousing, Logistic Scheduling, Material Kitting, Conveyance, and Production Line Design - All operations of the NPI Warehouse team involve sensitive prototype materials with high level of proprietary information which supports Tesla in our mission to accelerate how quickly our company can bring innovative concepts to our customers around the world.

As an Associate Manager for NPI Warehouse, you will be playing a critical role in ensuring the 24/7 AWS team at Tesla Huntwood facility is able to support the timelines of various engineering programs across multiple sites. You will work cross-functionally interfacing with engineering, production, workplace, logistics, SOS, accounting, finance, and planning to ensure PCAs, Pilot, NPI, and Engineering goals are being met. We are seeking a leader that will help build and foster a culture of ownership through learning that will drive a high-performance team of NPI Warehouse Supervisors and Technicians.

This role is intended for those with high skill set for managing, designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes related to engineering programs ahead of production-ready state. This person will contribute to the analysis of large data to identify areas for improvement, implementing changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality while adhering to safety and compliance standards; collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain smooth operations and achieve both engineering and production goals.

  • Lead, Manage, and Mentor the Huntwood NPI Warehouse team through projects and utilizing existing resources to optimize supply chain solutions that improve quality and performance. Coordinate material input to ensure on time delivery and output schedules lead in the attainment of increased efficiency and cycle time reduction

  • Support all planning and engineering schedules; inventory control; warehouse operations; logistics integration; planners and GSMs for Tesla's various facilities in California to ensure minimization of excess/obsolete inventory and increase annual turns and establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for all materials

  • Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams' safety training is current, documenting incidents, proactively correcting hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations

  • Data Analysis by collecting and organizing large volumes of data to support the physical introduction and systematic configuration of new or changing materials in production on schedule with implementation dates

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving by assisting in the implementation on new PC processes (e.g., sequencing of materials), often required to complete additional reworks such as repackaging in addition to creating proper Tesla packaging labels with part number, home location, and quantity as NPI materials frequently come in with missing information. Project Management of various engineering timelines, budgets, and resource allocation by collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality control to increase capacity, lower cost and improve yield

  • Process Optimization: Drive improvement activities from inception through closure by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) via existing production processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement

  • Ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Proven success in managing department(s) responsible for some or all aspects of materials control functions

  • Demonstrated financial understanding of materials and supply chain performance

  • Strong communication and management skills combined with business analytics, process and system development and change management

  • Proven examples of continuous improvement in efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the materials function within high growth, fast paced, manufacturing environment

  • Expertise in material distribution through the manufacturing process by orchestrating the efficiency of moving material from the warehouse through manufacturing operations in an organized fashion

Expected Compensation

$84,000 - $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
