JOB SUMMARY
GENERAL:
The position provides enterprise networking services and support for HCA, a Fortune 100 global company. This team often interacts with other HCA teams, business partners, vendors, and others, to effectively meet the business objectives and service level agreements of HCA.
Onsite required Monday – Friday 12 pm to 9 pm Central Time at the HCA NOC
SPECIFIC:
The NOC is a high-performance team comprised of self-motivated network engineers whose primary responsibilities are network infrastructure monitoring, reporting, first-level network triage/support (a.k.a. "break/fix"), critical escalations, and network Major Incident Response Team (MIRT) engagement. Team members are expected to respond promptly to infrastructure alerts, escalations by customers and/or company leadership and expected to respond immediately to patient and/or business impacting critical and MIRT events, as well as keeping the team’s tickets in up-to-date status and the ticket queue at a low unassigned count.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include knowledge and/or experience with but are not limited to the following.
• Focused attention to infrastructure performance dashboards
• Take immediate action on alerts or any anomalies
• Follow company standards / best practices, and documentation policies
• Be able to work in a collaborative environment
• Usage of terminal emulators, i.e., MobaXterm, PuTTY/SuperPuTTY, SecureCRT
• Knowledge of ServiceNow and/or Remedy ticketing systems will be helpful
• Knowledge and/or experience of network monitoring, logging, and event tools
• Troubleshooting / Analyzing network traffic (switches/routers/firewalls, etc.)
• Administration of network monitoring tools, (i.e.: Splunk, NetFlow, Wireshark, Thousand Eyes, etc.)
• Understanding of the 7-layer OSI model
• Knowledge/Understanding of BGP/OSPF
• Knowledge/Understanding of IP addressing, variable length subnet masking
• Knowledge/Understanding of data center technologies (Nexus, ACI, VXLAN)
• Layer 1 technologies including fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, patch panels, and connector types
• Layer 2 technologies including VTP, 802.1Q trunking, spanning-tree, VLANs
• Knowledge/Understanding of WAN technology (i.e.: MPLS, VPLS)
• Basic knowledge/understanding of Software Defined Network (SDN)
• Knowledge and/or experience of network security technologies (i.e.: firewalls, proxies)
• Knowledge and/or experience of remote access/VPN technologies
• Knowledge and/or experience of load-balancing technologies
• Knowledge and/or experience of enterprise wireless technologies
• Understanding of complex nation-wide, enterprise WAN/LAN solutions, utilizing best practice switching/routing technologies and topologies. (Experience in network deployment and support is helpful)

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred
OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
CompTIA or Cisco CCNA or equivalent experience helpful

• Possible prolonged sitting at workstation
• Professional attire and conduct are required at all locations
• After-hours and/or weekend work could be required occasionally
• Should be able to lift network components to build, rack, and configure devices
