Position description
The Department of Medicine at University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence within its faculty, staff and student body.
We are actively recruiting to fill the tenured position of Chief, Division of Genomics and Precision Medicine.
Divisional faculty receive over $14 million in grant funding each year, including $10 million from the NIH. The Division has innovative basic, translational, and computational research programs in many areas of population-based and disease-specific genomics, development of widely used analytic tools, and applications of machine learning to genomic data.
We are seeking a visionary leader who can sustain and grow all facets of the Division''s missions as well as foster a collaborative and collegial work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The appointment will be based on the candidate''s background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence (with secured extramural funding) or 100% Ladder Rank.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
Candidates must have 5 + years of experience leading a clinical, translational, and/or basic research program, along with an independent, extramurally funded research program (e.g., NIH R01 or similar).
Candidates with an MD/PhD with any clinical responsibilities must be board certified or board eligible in their specialty and must either hold, or be eligible for, a California medical license or equivalent certification as determined by the Medical Board of California.
