    Associate Practice Area Director – Healthcare Design

    Location: Atlanta, GA
    Travel: Regional travel required

    About the Opportunity

    An internationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced healthcare engineering leader to help grow and lead its Healthcare Practice in the Southeast. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a passion for healthcare design, business development, and team leadership.

    The successful candidate will lead the pursuit, execution, and growth of complex healthcare projects including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, medical office buildings, and other healthcare environments. This individual will play a key role in developing client relationships, expanding market presence, mentoring engineering teams, and driving strategic growth.

    This is a leadership position with a clear path toward increased regional responsibility and ownership opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the pursuit, capture, and successful delivery of healthcare engineering projects.
    • Develop and execute regional business development strategies.
    • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare owners, architects, contractors, and industry partners.
    • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams.
    • Oversee project execution, quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
    • Develop regional business plans and growth strategies aligned with national practice goals.
    • Collaborate with leadership across multiple offices to share resources and pursue opportunities.
    • Lead presentations, interviews, and proposal efforts for major healthcare pursuits.
    • Drive technical excellence and innovation across the healthcare practice.
    • Recruit, develop, and retain senior engineering talent.
    • Represent the firm through conferences, industry organizations, articles, and speaking engagements.
    • Support Design-Build pursuits and integrated project delivery strategies.
    • Manage project financials and help achieve annual revenue growth objectives.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
    • 12+ years of healthcare or life sciences engineering design experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or management experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years developing business and cultivating client relationships.
    • Strong knowledge of MEP building systems.
    • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
    • Experience with healthcare facilities, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, medical office buildings, and related projects.
    • Demonstrated success leading project pursuits and growing client relationships.
