West Springfield Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and equity-driven educational leader to serve as Associate Principal of West Springfield Middle School. The successful candidate will provide visionary instructional leadership, foster a safe and inclusive school culture, support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students, and collaborate with staff, families, and the community to ensure high levels of achievement and continuous improvement for every learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Leadership & School Improvement
- Drive Teaching & Learning: Provide instructional leadership tailored to middle school needs to ensure equitable academic, social, and emotional outcomes for all students.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze attendance patterns, early warning indicators, and student assessment data; communicate trends to staff and department heads to guide instructional practices.
- Curriculum & Intervention Support: Oversee the design of rigorous, standards-based instruction with measurable outcomes, and implement immediate, targeted student interventions while monitoring their effectiveness.
- Strategic Planning: Co-develop, implement, and track a comprehensive School Improvement Plan, identifying key levers to accelerate school growth and turnaround efforts.
- Standards Alignment: Coordinate standards-based data collection, review priority standards, and align school-wide interventions.

- Staff Supervision & Professional Development
- Team Supervision: Effectively supervise and evaluate classroom teams, content-based coaches, specialists, and support personnel.
- Observations & Feedback: Conduct classroom observations to analyze instruction and provide actionable feedback that promotes continuous teacher growth.
- Professional Growth: Lead and support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), continuous coaching cycles, and targeted professional development.

- External Agency Collaboration: Work directly with outside agencies, including the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and other state/local organizations, to ensure compliance, secure resources, and align school practices with broader educational standards as needed.
- Inclusive Environment: Cultivate and maintain an effective, safe, and culturally responsive learning environment for the entire school community.
- Multilingual Outreach: Collaborate with the leadership team to implement two-way communication tools that engage parents in their preferred languages regarding academics.
