Position: Associate Principal (One Year Only)

Work Schedule: Full-time, 12 months

Start Date: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027

Pay: $138,599 - $147,234 based on qualifications and per the Principal Labor Agreement

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota administrative license.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.
  • Ability to create and explain policies, objectives, rules, and regulations of assigned program and activities.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures governing budgets and work authorization; implement necessary corrective action to keep costs and schedules in line with budgets or program requirements.
  • Knowledge of best practices in school administration, supervision, and training.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with a variety of staff and non-staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate school goals and objectives, district standards and policies to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience in the development of a schools staffing plan.
  • Ability to seek, receive and utilize the advice, consultation, and guidance of others when faced with making critical decisions.
  • Ability to adjust or recommend adjustment of employee grievances as appropriate within established organization policies.
  • Experience in coordinating school's operations and activities to insure a safe and positive environment for students and staff.
  • Preferred experience in master scheduling and/or curriculum, instruction and assessment

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the principal in the overall organization, administration and supervision of the program in accordance with state and local policies and regulations.
  • Assist the principal in the management and preparation of the school budget.
  • Assist the principal in the supervision and maintenance of accurate records on the progress, health and attendance of students.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
  • At the direction of the principal manage building level leadership teams including the building instructional leadership team and the building operations committee.
  • Assist the principal in the supervision and development and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and discipline students where necessary and appropriate according to due process.
  • Assume the duties and responsibilities of the principal in his/her absence.
  • Work with the faculty in in-service training, program development and professional growth.
  • Lead with parents, faculty and student groups the work necessary to achieve school educational and related goals and objectives.
  • Work with the principal in recruiting and interviewing of prospective staff members.
  • Supervise teachers by visiting classes, writing reports on observations, counseling with teachers and evaluating the teaching-learning process.
  • Work directly with the student services department in providing support service for students.
  • Coordinate interventions with at risk students. Involve dean, teacher, parents, probation officers and welfare agencies where appropriate.
  • Supervise hall traffic and behavior.
