The Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is expanding our research faculty. The Department is seeking applicants with a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree who will be expected to establish independent extramural funding, which may be supplemented by departmental funds. This position is for a Research Faculty on Ophthalmology. Duties include maintaining extramural funding, which may be supplemented by a significant departmental endowment and research funds. Ability and willingness to collaborate with other faculty members working on the pathobiology and retinal degeneration (e.g., AMO), ocular surface diseases, and corneal diseases, and corneal cell biology. The department is seeking exceptional established investigators. A background focused solely on vision science is not a prerequisite. Instead, the most important criterion is excellence in an area of basic and/or translational science, along with an interest in applying this expertise to vision research. Areas of particular interest include immunology, microglial biology, neurodegeneration and regeneration, genetics and epigenetics, gene therapy, cellular therapy, and related fields.
