- Develops and implements a vision for the Center of Emphasis in Neurosciences in collaboration with the Department Chair
- Develops a strategic plan for growing and enhancing the a) quality, b) visibility, and c) impact of scientific, clinical, and educational programs within the Center, in collaboration with the Department Chair of Molecular and Translational Medicine and the Vice President for Research
- Enhances faculty recruitment, maximizes strategic investment of facilities and resources, and fosters the development and expansion of external research funding from national, state and local sources
- Builds and sustains an independent, extramurally funded research program and fosters the same for faculty within the Center of Neurosciences
- Participates in budget development in collaboration with the Department Chair
- Fosters collaboration and integrates faculty and trainees around shared interests in neurosciences research to achieve the Center''s interdisciplinary goals
- Promotes the Center''s research, training, and service missions to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensures compliance with the regulations, policies, procedures, and standards of ethical conduct in the planning, conducting, and reporting of research and scholarly activity
- Participates in teaching team-taught courses at TTUHSC El Paso
- Mentors medical students, graduate students, and post-graduate trainees
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
- Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
