Responsibilities
This regular full-time Bargaining Unit teaching position is eligible for a continuing contract. The standard contract duration is 228 days, but other contract lengths may be available based on departmental requirements. The position is based on the Altamonte Springs Campus. The Program Manager/Associate Professor role emphasizes collaboration, involving close work with the Dean and other members of the faculty and industry partners. In addition to teaching Respiratory Care courses and related subjects, the program manager/associate professor will oversee all aspects of the program, providing leadership, vision, and direction in its planning, development, and delivery. The role entails flexible work hours, including days and evenings, as well as travel to clinical sites and college campuses. Faculty responsibilities will include:Teaching and supporting student learningDeveloping curriculumSupporting college policies, procedures, and inclusivenessParticipating in department and college activities and committees including graduationAttending college wide meetings and trainings at various campuses and locations ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Program Manager 1. Develops and implements curriculum for the degree and maintains program specific learning outcomes with an appropriate learning assessment plan.2. Implements and manages program improvement using learning assessment outcomes, program review and advisory committee input.3. In conjunction with the Dean, recruits and recommends adjunct faculty, clinical faculty and lab assistant and coordinates orientations and development.4. Provides support to the admissions office for the recruitment of students and recommends strategies to enhance student recruitment, retention, and completion.5. Prepares schedules for each term and projects yearlong course schedule to enhance the student's ability to complete the program considering student needs, faculty teaching loads, facilities, and fiscal responsibility. 6. Maintains accreditation of the program through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, institutional, and accrediting agency requirements. 7. Coordinates and oversees CoARC accreditation activities, including preparation and submission of self-study documents, annual reports, outcomes assessment, and continuous quality improvement initiatives required for accreditation reaffirmation. 8. Serves as the program representative and liaison with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), state and local agencies, business, and industry partners to ensure the curriculum reflects current professional standards, CoARC requirements, workforce needs, and promotes graduate success and placement.9. Works collaboratively with the Dean to develop and maintain a strong and active industry advisory committee and organizes advisory committee meetings minimally twice a year to ensure curriculum that provides students with knowledge and skills aligned with industry needs.10. In collaboration with other faculty, recommends book adoptions for each course in program. Professor1. Teaches didactic courses, including the elements of instruction such as syllabi in compliance with the SSC master course syllabi, course objectives, tests, student records, course evaluations, and grade reports.2. Cooperates with the other faculty and medical director to ensure that instruction in the clinical affiliates is coordinated, and that all students receive adequate medical and technical instruction and learning experiences.3. Incorporates teaching strategies relevant to academic discipline that foster student learning, success, and retention.4. Maintains require office hours to help students, both individually and in small groups. Counsels students in matters relating to academic progress.5. Participates in committee work as requested.6. Develop and implement lab skill, practice and testing of students.7. Assists in implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures.8. Maintains current instruction and discipline specific knowledge through professional development, seminars, and conferences. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Master's degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited institution.2. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of four years' experience with at least two years in clinical respiratory care.3. State of Florida RRT license for providing respiratory services, or, if from out-of-state, must be eligible for Florida license and procured prior to hiring.4. Current CPR certification. 5. Clinical sites may require additional requirements. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching, Leadership and management experience in a higher education or healthcare institution. Demonstrated understanding of the learning centered approach to teaching.Experience utilizing technology and innovative pedagogy to deliver exceptional teaching and learning. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:Works in an office/classroom environment.May be required to work flexible hours and days including evening and weekends.Assigned campus may vary.May be required to travel between campuses and other local destinations.May require contact with patients with communicable diseases. Pay Benefits and Work Schedule
The starting salary is $54,317 - $79,218 commensurate with related work experience and education in accordance with the Salary Schedule in Article 26 of the UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is eligible for a 10% hard-to-fill adjustment in alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
