Project Development AnalystThe Project Development Analyst supports activities associated with the development and implementation of large energy projects. This role is responsible for project analysis, payment, communication and reporting from evaluation to operation, supporting the development and construction phases of many complex multi-stage energy projects.ResponsibilitiesSupports the development and construction of multiple generation, energy storage and other large energy projects across the state of Iowa and the Company's service territory. Gathers and maintains financial and project status information for multiple projects. Develops methods and processes to provide accurate and timely budgets, forecasts, payments, actual spend, accruals and financial plan inputs. Produces metrics and reporting, prepares and presents data. Prepares and maintains department reports, presentations, project schedules, task lists, standard operating procedures and project plans. Is responsible for responding to data requests for internal and external reports, publications and presentations. Provides support to management during internal and external meetings. Supports certain business negotiations, contract development and administration for asset acquisition, site development, turbine supply, balance of plant, and other consultant and contractor contracts for generation, energy storage and other large energy projects to ensure compliance and continuity with strategic development plans and company goals. Evaluates project costs for both emerging and proven generation and energy storage technologies for the potential implementation into the Company's generation portfolio and assists in the development and execution of strategic plans for acquisition and/or development of large projects. Supports the due diligence process for project acquisition and/or development and equipment procurement by properly identifying the risks and benefits of potential projects and generation, energy storage or electric equipment, including identifying the generation resource, environmental, real estate, interconnection, permitting, and construction risks and costs. Maintains, organizes and controls project data, invoices, contracts, real estate records, contract notices and scope changes, reports, surveys and study information. The position is responsible for project document acquisition, organization and control. Maintains key internal and external relationships that support the development, construction and operations of generation, energy storage and electric transmission projects. Supports the company's response to landowner and local government agencies, concerns, issues and internal and external data and media requests that arise during development and construction activities. Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field or equivalent work experience. One year of demonstrated financial and/or market portfolio evaluation project work or similar experience. Two-three years of demonstrated financial and/or market portfolio evaluation project work or similar experience for the analyst role. Five years of demonstrated financial and/or market portfolio evaluation project work or similar experience for the senior analyst role. A self-starter, an employee who can work independently with little direction and with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Ability to interface with executive management. Demonstrated customer service skills meeting internal and external customer needs. Demonstrated familiarity with detailed cash flow analysis and evaluation, familiarity with corporate finance modeling and other financial market interactions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and presentation skills are preferred. Advanced software skills in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues, tasks and projects concurrently. Excellent organizational skills required.
