POSITON SUMMARY:
The associate project manager (APM) is responsible for planning, designing, managing,
and supervising facility construction, renovation, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects.
The role provides technical leadership for civil/mechanical engineering initiatives,
oversees project execution from concept through construction, ensures compliance with
applicable codes and standards, and coordinates with contractors, consultants, other
agencies, and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective project
management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
contractors with the planning, construction, and maintenance of facility and
infrastructure projects, including bus depots, parking facilities, and related
mechanical and/or civil disciplines.
specifications, and contract documents; conduct site inspections and field surveys
to verify compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
renovation and retrofit projects, and coordinate with architects, contractors,
consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project delivery while
maintaining safety, quality, and operational objectives.
plumbing, boilers, air compressors, bus washing systems, roll-up doors,
structural/load-capacity evaluations, retrofit projects, and coordination with
architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project
development and construction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project
management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or
expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects,
or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either:
engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology,
construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design,
urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience
in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating,
or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects;
or
experience as described in "1" above; or
combination of college or university education and/or experience described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of
experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college or university
education leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural
technology, construction, construction management, construction technology,
sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning,
business administration, or public administration;
(B) a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the disciplines
described in "1" above;
(C) a Juris Doctor degree, or
(D) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or
Registered Landscape Architect.
Qualification Requirements:
Experience which is primarily of a design nature is not acceptable towards meeting the
qualification requirements.
Assignment Level II: Special Requirements In addition to meeting the qualification
requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least one additional year
of experience as described in "1" above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at
least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
Assignment Level III: Special Requirements In addition to meeting the qualification
requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least two additional years
of experience as described in "1" above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at
least two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction
project.

Appointment may be at a comparable level to current level of selected candidate. (If

As an employee of MTA NYC Transit, you may be required to complete an annual
financial disclosure statement with the state of New York, if your position earns more than
$101,379 (this is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy
