We are a national staffing firm and are currently seeking an Animal Husbandry Associatefor a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Cambridge, MA, 02139. Details of the position are as follows:
Job Description:
Pay: $21.42-$25.00/hr to start!
Shift: 4 days out of the work week, and 1 weekend day shift (5 days a week)- standard day shift.
18-month contract to start with the possibility of extension or conversion based on budget and performance.
Position will mainly be responsible for performing daily husbandry for laboratory animals, primarily rodents and some USDA-regulated small animals, conducting daily clinical observations, maintaining animal rooms and equipment through proper sanitation, receiving incoming animals and supplies, fulfilling research support requests, coordinating animal transfers and relocations, and performing limited routine animal procedures to support scientific research.
Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with institutional policies, IACUC requirements, animal welfare regulations, and applicable regulatory guidelines, maintaining accurate animal and facility records, monitoring operational standards, making independent decisions related to daily animal care activities, and supporting efficient facility operations.
Position will also be responsible for participating in continuous learning and professional development opportunities to expand technical skills, collaborating with research teams to support study objectives, assisting with facility operations as needed, and performing additional duties assigned to support the animal care and research program.
Qualifications:
High School/ GED, associates, or bachelor’s degree is required.
2-4 years working with animals or performing animal husbandry is required.
Background working with animals, ideally rabbits, rats, rodents, or guinea pigs is highly preferred.
ALAT or AALAS certification is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local animal welfare laws.
