    About the role:

The Associate Scientist will support the advancement of GIDDU programs through in vitro pharmacology and assay development. In this role, you will design, execute, interpret, and document studies using primary human immune cells to generate high-quality, reproducible data that supports program decisions and development-stage activities. You will bring hands-on expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry, primary cell culture, and in vitro pharmacology assays while collaborating with cross-functional research and development teams to address technical challenges and advance scientific programs.

    How you will contribute:

    • Lead the design, optimization, execution, and interpretation of in vitro pharmacology assays supporting GIDDU programs.
    • Design and perform experiments using primary human immune cells, including culture, stimulation, treatment, phenotyping, and functional readouts.
    • Support the development, troubleshooting, qualification, and analysis of multi-parameter flow cytometry assays to evaluate mechanism of action, target engagement, and immune cell phenotypes.
    • Generate reproducible, high-quality data to support program decisions and development-stage activities.
    • Contribute to study design, protocol execution, data analysis, and preparation of study reports.
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and inspection-ready experimental records aligned with data integrity expectations.
    • Prepare technical summaries, figures, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate data, limitations, and conclusions.
    • Partner with internal research, translational, biologics, regulatory, and project teams to ensure studies meet program needs.
    • Identify technical challenges, troubleshoot assays, and propose practical solutions to maintain study progress.
    • Contribute to project team discussions and support scientific decision-making.

    What you bring to Takeda:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
    • Hands-on experience designing and executing in vitro assays using primary human immune cells.
    • Experience executing and analyzing multi-parameter flow cytometry assays, including panel design, staining, acquisition, compensation, gating, troubleshooting, and analysis.
    • Experience generating reproducible pharmacology data and clearly documenting experimental results.
    • Strong scientific writing skills, including preparation of study summaries, technical reports, figures, and presentations.
    • Experience supporting development-stage studies or pharmacology data packages; experience with antibody-based therapeutics, CD38 biology, B cell or plasma cell biology, or immune-mediated disease pharmacology is preferred.
    • Experience with target engagement, receptor occupancy, immune cell depletion, cytokine, proliferation, or viability assays, along with familiarity with assay qualification, reproducibility standards, and data documentation practices.
