Our client is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join the Pathology Laboratory within the Translational Safety & Risk Sciences Department in South San Francisco, CA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on tissue-based assays, supporting early-stage development of targeted therapies. Candidates will have the chance to develop advanced immunohistochemistry and multiplex assay techniques, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to impactful projects that advance scientific understanding and therapeutic discovery. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize histopathology assays, including single and multiplex immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays, in situ hybridization (ISH) techniques—both colorimetric and immunofluorescent—and utilize various imaging modalities.
  • Perform and analyze tissue imaging, applying digital pathology and image analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with pathologists, scientists, and research associates on multiple projects to evaluate tissue samples, analyze data, and contribute to early program assessments, mechanism of action studies, and toxicity evaluation.
  • Support biomarker development through assay validation for target qualification, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy readouts.
  • Manage documentation and data organization within laboratory information systems and databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Present findings clearly to team members and stakeholders, contributing to project planning and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant scientific laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in histopathology techniques such as IHC, multiplex IHC, immunofluorescence imaging, and digital pathology.
  • Experience with tissue sectioning, histology procedures, and advanced microscopy.
  • Familiarity with pathology instrumentation including Leica Bond, Ventana, Dako, and/or Intellipath preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
