    Job Description

    What we are looking for:

The Associate Scientist position is a laboratory-based scientific role in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. In this role, you will be supporting product formulation development and characterization focused on biomedical implants and pharmaceutical devices for controlled drug delivery utilizing Secant Group’s biomaterial platform.

    What you will do:

    • Formulate and characterize polymeric materials designed for drug-eluting and non-drug-eluting implantable devices to support customer projects and internal investigations.
    • Execute pre-formulation studies, such as drug particle size analysis, SEM, light microscopy, milling, and sieving.
    • Characterize polymers and drug-polymer physiochemical interactions using DSC, TGA, rheometry.
    • Analyze formulations using FTIR and Raman spectroscopy to determine drug-polymer mixing efficiency, drug loading, and content uniformity.
    • Set up and run dissolution studies and analyze dissolution media to determine drug release profiles using HPLC to quantify drug concentration.
    • Set up and run degradation studies and analyze sample weight, dimensions, and topography to determine polymer degradation behavior.
    • Perform wet chemistry experiments, like residual monomer extractions, Karl Fischer titrations, and acid/base titrations.
    • Collaborate with other teammates within R&D to achieve project goals.
