Our client is seeking a highly motivated Contract Worker (CW) Associate Scientist to support research activities focused on viral vector production and characterization, including both adeno-associated virus (AAV) and lentiviral (LV) platforms. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory-based experimental workflows involving mammalian cell culture, protein purification, molecular and cellular characterization assays, and vector-related analytical techniques. This role requires strong hands-on laboratory skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and implement new experimental techniques in a dynamic research environment. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely electronic laboratory notebook documentation and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. This is a fully onsite laboratory position, requiring daily presence in the laboratory to support project success and ensure seamless workflow integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mammalian cell culture and maintain sterile laboratory practices to support viral vector production.
  • Execute protein purification procedures, including operation of AKTA purification systems.
  • Conduct molecular and cellular characterization assays such as PCR, qPCR, ELISA, and other vector-related analytical techniques.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of viral production and purification protocols.
  • Maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks, documenting work thoroughly and accurately.
  • Contribute to team efforts in troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory standards within the laboratory environment.

Qualifications:
  • Hands-on sterile laboratory technique experience, including aseptic practices.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Knowledge of viral vector systems, specifically AAV and lentiviral (LV), is strongly preferred.
  • Protein purification experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AKTA purification systems is advantageous.
  • General wet lab laboratory experience required.
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of laboratory experience; industry experience preferred but strong academic/internship experience considered.
  • Prior practical laboratory work experience is highly valued to reduce onboarding time.
