BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to work cooperatively in a team to teach and assist in the creation/maintenance of a safe space for children to learn and grow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily lesson planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities
Interact with students and encourage their involvement in activities
Establish and maintain good communication with parents
Maintain clean and orderly workspace and classroom
Supervise child toileting procedures
Assist with the setup and cleanup of mealtimes, naptimes and activities
Maintain daily student observation records, demonstrating evidence of learning
Maintain and build student working folders
Provide appropriate and positive discipline
Attend staff meetings, training courses and provide training on in-service days
Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
Maintain a highly detailed and organized filling system
Answer phone, handle routine questions and direct calls
Utilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principles
Maintain a professional image and procedures
Complete written documentation of student infractions
Check and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis
Adhere to confidentiality standards
Other related duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate experience in Early Childhood education or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work with children in an active environment
Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required
Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
High degree of confidentiality
Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
High degree of organizational skills
Approach problem solving creatively
Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must possess a high diploma, GED or equivalent
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
Must be 21 years or older
Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
Must have a Associate Teacher permit or equivalent
Minimum of 12 ECE/CD units completed prior to hire
CPR and Mandated Reporter Certificate
Must pass Live Scan and other background screenings

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
