Next Generation Point Of Sale UX Designer

Payrate: $65.00 - $75.00/hr. This role will support the Next Generation Point of Sale (NGPOS) initiative to modernize the checkout experience across stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers. The candidate will work as part of a Product Design team focused on NGPOS's end-user experience, data platform, and release enablement tool. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct research with NGPOS's wide range of end users (including cashiers, in-store shoppers, service desk representatives, and fuel center attendants) to understand each audience's unique needs and pain points.
• Lead and facilitate collaborative workshops with large cross-functional groups, including attendees from Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, and Retail Operations, to solve both experience and technical challenges.
• Work closely with multiple development teams to provide upfront design direction, participate in agile ceremonies, and collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure developed solutions align with the overall experience vision.
• Build and maintain UX artifacts such as personas, user journeys, and service blueprints to effectively illustrate the complexity of the point-of-sale ecosystem and its many touchpoints.
• Understand the role data (both qualitative and quantitative) plays in design, including how to effectively capture, synthesize, and apply it to make informed design decisions.
• Demonstrate awareness of AI and a willingness to adopt emerging AI tools and workflows as part of the design process.

Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in UX design, particularly in retail or point-of-sale systems.
• Proven ability to conduct user research and translate findings into actionable design insights.
• Experience in leading cross-functional workshops and collaborative design sessions.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining UX artifacts such as personas and user journeys.
• Familiarity with agile development processes and collaboration with development teams.

Desired Skills:

• Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
• Experience with AI tools and a willingness to integrate them into the design process.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the Blue Ash Technology office and visit stores as needed.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $65.00 - $750.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
