JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel or other designee, the Associate University Counsel (USP 3) provides or assists in providing a full range of legal services to the University. Performs standard legal work independently and complex work with supervision. Activities include research, contract review and drafting, investigation, analysis, advice, negotiation, and dispute resolution. Provide legal support in connection with subpoenas, discovery, and other records requests, including preparing responses, coordinating document collection, and assisting with document review and production.
This position will be hired at the University Staff Professional (USP 3) classification as Associate University Counsel, intended for experienced staff lawyers. The Associate University Counsel works under the general direction of senior attorneys and must be able to act independently on standard legal matters while seeking guidance on complex or novel issues.
This position functions as a staff lawyer in the Office of the General Counsel, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel. The position may be designated to support one or more specific organizational units or functions within the University or to concentrate on particular areas of law.
