Job Summary
The Associate Vice President for Enterprise Communications and Strategic Messaging is a senior communications leader responsible for directing complex enterprise-wide communications strategies, internal communications governance structures, messaging frameworks, and organizational communication systems that support the mission and strategic priorities of The University of Texas at San Antonio. The Associate Vice President serves as a strategic advisor and enterprise leader responsible for ensuring alignment of communications across the university, supporting organizational transformation and integration initiatives, strengthening executive and institutional messaging, and building a scalable communications infrastructure.
This position owns the development of enterprise communications governance, internal communications architecture, organizational change communications, and long-term strategic communications planning processes that support a highly distributed communications model spanning academic, research, clinical, and administrative operations. The role will guide the establishment of collaborative structures, standards, and communication systems that improve coordination, alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness across colleges, schools, centers, institutes, administrative units, and the academic health enterprise.
A key responsibility of the position is ensuring communications alignment between the university and UT Health San Antonio, overseeing enterprise-wide communications, executive messaging, and strategic priorities are coordinated effectively across both entities while recognizing their unique audiences, missions, and operational requirements.

Working Conditions
Office environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary depending on the departments needs.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
