Position Summary: The Associate Vice President for Human Resources (AVP-HR) provides strategic and operational leadership for the human resources function at Texas College. The AVP-HR is responsible for fostering a positive, professional, accountable, and service-oriented workplace while ensuring that College employment practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with institutional priorities. The position serves as a trusted resource to employees, supervisors, Cabinet members, and the President and plays an important role in strengthening organizational culture, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and institutional accountability. The AVP-HR reports to the President and has direct access to sensitive personnel matters, executive employment matters, employee relations, organizational culture, and compliance concerns. Primary Responsibilities: •\tLead the College's human resources operations, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, and separation processes. •\tAdvise supervisors and senior leadership on personnel matters, policies, performance concerns, corrective action, and appropriate documentation. •\tEnsure HR policies and employment practices are administered fairly, consistently, professionally, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. •\tSupport the President and Cabinet in organizational restructuring, position development, compensation review, succession planning, and workforce planning. •\tStrengthen recruitment and onboarding practices to help Texas College attract and retain talented faculty and staff. •\tDevelop and coordinate employee training, supervisor development, professional development, and other initiatives that strengthen institutional effectiveness. •\tProvide appropriate processes for employees to raise workplace concerns and help ensure concerns are addressed at the appropriate organizational level without fear of retaliation. •\tPromote a culture of professionalism, accountability, collaboration, open communication, and service consistent with the College's THRIVE values. •\tMaintain accurate and confidential personnel records and ensure appropriate handling of sensitive employee information. •\tMonitor employee performance-management processes and assist supervisors with performance improvement plans and other corrective measures when necessary. •\tReview and recommend updates to employee handbooks, HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, and employment practices. •\tCoordinate benefits, leave administration, employment verification, and other HR-related services. •\tWork collaboratively with Finance to support payroll-related personnel processes and appropriate position and compensation controls. •\tProvide regular updates to the President and appropriate senior leadership regarding significant HR matters, trends, risks, and institutional needs. •\tPerform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position and the needs of Texas College. Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, management, organizational leadership, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred. The successful candidate should have progressively responsible experience in human resources administration, including experience with employee relations, recruitment, performance management, policy administration, and employment compliance. Higher education experience is strongly preferred. Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is preferred.
