POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Vice Provost for Campus Life and Student Success is a senior academic and student affairs leader responsible for advancing a holistic, integrated vision of student learning, development, belonging, well-being, and success at Olin College of Engineering. Reporting to the Provost and serving as a member of the Provost's leadership team, the Associate Vice Provost provides strategic leadership for student success initiatives, campus life, student engagement, well-being, and co-curricular learning experiences that complement and enhance Olin's innovative academic mission.

The Associate Vice Provost leads Student Affairs and Resources (StAR) and serves as the institution's senior student success leader, championing an integrated approach to student development that bridges curricular and co-curricular experiences. Through collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and institutional partners, the Associate Vice Provost advances strategies that promote student belonging, persistence, academic achievement, leadership development, and post-graduate success.

As a highly visible and student-centered leader with a strong on-campus presence, the Associate Vice Provost fosters a campus environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and professionally. The role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive vision for student success that spans the student lifecycle, from enrollment and onboarding through graduation and career preparation, while ensuring alignment with Olin's mission, values, and strategic priorities.

The Associate Vice Provost oversees a broad portfolio that includes academic advising and support, student engagement and leadership development, residence life, student well-being, accessibility services, inclusion and belonging initiatives, career services, international programs, student conduct, crisis response, and institutional partnerships supporting student life. The position serves as a principal advisor to the Provost and institutional leadership on matters affecting the student experience, campus climate, student health and safety, and emerging trends in higher education.

The Associate Vice Provost works closely with the Chief Executive Student Experience Officer (CESEO) to implement institutional priorities, align student success initiatives across the College, and advance a cohesive vision for the student experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership for Student Success and Campus Life

• Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional vision for student success, engagement, belonging, and well-being that advances Olin's strategic goals.
• Serve as the senior leader responsible for integrating student success efforts across academic and administrative units.
• Advise the Provost and collaborate with institutional leadership on student needs, campus climate, emerging challenges, and opportunities related to the student experience.
• Promote a culture of innovation, assessment, and continuous improvement across student-facing functions.
• Champion student agency, voice, and co-creation as core elements of the Olin educational experience.

Student Success and Academic Support

• Lead institution-wide efforts to enhance student retention, persistence, graduation outcomes, and holistic success.
• Oversee academic advising, tutoring, coaching, and student support services.
• Partner with faculty and academic leaders to identify and address barriers to student achievement.
• Utilize data and assessment practices to inform interventions, resource allocation, and student success strategies.
• Monitor student progress and coordinate support for students experiencing academic challenges.

Integration of Curricular and Co-Curricular Learning

• Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to create seamless connections between academic learning and co-curricular experiences.
• Advance student learning outcomes across leadership development, civic engagement, wellness, intercultural competence, and professional preparation.
• Ensure student development principles are integrated into institutional planning and educational initiatives.

Student Engagement and Leadership Development

• Provide strategic oversight for student organizations, student government, leadership programs, campus traditions, and community-building initiatives.
• Foster meaningful opportunities for student involvement, leadership, and participation in institutional governance.
• Support the development of student leaders through mentoring, training, and experiential learning opportunities.
• Advise and support the Council of Olin Representatives (CORe) and other student leadership bodies.

Belonging, Inclusion, and Community Development

• Lead institutional efforts to cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable campus environment.
• Oversee programs and initiatives that promote belonging and support diverse student populations.
• Partner with academic and administrative units to strengthen inclusive practices across campus.
• Foster community dialogue and engagement around issues affecting campus climate and student experience.

Student Well-Being and Health Promotion

• Provide strategic leadership for student well-being initiatives, including mental health, physical health, wellness education, and prevention programs.
• Oversee partnerships with Babson Student Health Services, counseling resources, local healthcare providers, and wellness professionals.
• Advance a proactive and comprehensive approach to student wellness that supports student resilience and flourishing.

Residence Life and Residential Education

• Oversee residential education and community development efforts that contribute to student learning and belonging.
• Ensure residence life programs support personal growth, leadership development, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with campus partners on residential facilities, policies, and student support.

Student Conduct, Care, and Crisis Response

• Serve as the senior administrator responsible for overseeing the student conduct system, community standards, and related educational processes.
• Provide leadership and on-site oversight for student crisis response, behavioral intervention, and student support processes.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CARE Team and institutional protocols for student emergencies and crisis management.
• Ensure conduct and support systems are educational, equitable, and aligned with institutional values.

Accessibility and Student Support Services

• Ensure equitable access to educational opportunities through oversight of disability accommodations and accessibility services.
• Collaborate with the Director of Non-Discrimination and Title IX/Section 504 Coordinator to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Promote inclusive practices that support students with varying identities, experiences, and needs.

International Programs and Global Engagement

• Provide leadership for international student support, immigration services, and study-away opportunities.
• Foster global learning experiences and partnerships that enhance student development and intercultural competence.
• Ensure effective support structures for international students throughout their Olin experience.

Career and Professional Success

• Oversee career development services and experiential learning opportunities.
• Ensure students have access to internships, research opportunities, fellowships, employment resources, graduate school advising, and career coaching.
• Collaborate with employers, alumni, faculty, and external partners to support career readiness and post-graduate success.

Institutional Partnerships and Student Services

Serve as the primary institutional liaison for key student-facing partnerships, including:

• Babson Public Safety
• Babson Student Health Services
• Fitness and recreation resources
• Rebecca's Dining Services
• Babson-Olin-Wellesley (BOW) collaborative initiatives

Ensure external partnerships effectively support student needs and contribute positively to campus life.

Assessment, Planning, and Resource Stewardship

• Lead assessment and evaluation efforts related to student engagement, learning, retention, well-being, and post-graduate outcomes.
• Establish metrics and accountability frameworks to measure institutional effectiveness in supporting student success.
• Develop and manage budgets, resources, and staffing plans across the division.
• Identify and pursue external funding opportunities and strategic partnerships that enhance student programs and services.

Institutional Leadership

• Maintain a visible presence on campus as a senior leader responsible for fostering community, student engagement, and student success by attending key student, StAR, and institutional events, including evenings and weekends as appropriate.
• Serve as a member of the Provost's leadership team, contributing to institutional planning, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic decision-making related to student success and campus life.
• Participate in college-wide committees and strategic initiatives, including commencement, convocation, accreditation, and strategic planning.
• Represent Olin in regional and national higher education associations and professional organizations.
• Advance innovative models for student development and success that position Olin as a leader in engineering education and student-centered learning.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, educational leadership, or a related field.
• Eight to ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student affairs, student success, academic support, or related areas within higher education.
• Demonstrated success leading complex organizations, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional collaborations.
• Experience developing and implementing programs that enhance student engagement, persistence, well-being, and success.
• Strong understanding of student development theory, student success frameworks, and emerging trends in higher education.
• Experience supervising professional staff, managing budgets, and leading organizational change.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including FERPA, ADA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and related compliance requirements.

Preferred

• Earned doctorate in higher education, educational leadership, student affairs, or a related field.
• Experience at an innovative, mission-driven institution with a strong emphasis on student-centered learning.
• Demonstrated expertise in assessment, institutional effectiveness, and data-informed decision-making.
• Experience building partnerships across academic affairs, student affairs, and external organizations.
