Department Information

Institute Communications leads the storytelling and stewardship of Georgia Tech¿s voice, working in partnership with communicators across campus to inform audiences, strengthen the Institute¿s reputation, and ensure consistency in brand and messaging. As the team that defines communication standards and guides collaborative efforts, we support a unified, strategic approach across platforms. This role contributes to that mission by developing creative solutions for executive-level initiatives, institute-wide communications, and research-focused projects, helping translate complex ideas into compelling, visually cohesive work that advances Georgia Tech¿s impact locally and globally.

Job Summary

Lead and supervise activities related to the creative development and production of all marketing and promotional materials necessary to execute unit/group marketing campaigns.Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty, staff, and external stake holders. This position will supervise: assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Collaborate with clients to determine marketing and promotional materials necessary to achieve strategic marketing objectives.

Job Duty 2 - Direct workflow and resource scheduling to ensure projects remain on-time and within budget.

Job Duty 3 - Perform and lead the idea generation, design, illustration and production of marketing and promotional materials for the unit/group.

Job Duty 4 - Supervise the development and production of all marketing and promotional materials including work contracted through external sources.

Job Duty 5 - Track, measure, and provide progress reports of marketing and promotional materials to clients.

Job Duty 6 - Ensure marketing and promotional materials are within Institute and unit policy and guidelines.

Job Duty 7 - Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

Four to five years of job related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and mentor graphic designers while maintaining advanced, hands on design contribution, actively participating in concept development, visual execution, critique, and delivery alongside coaching and professional development
  • Experience guiding visual design quality, concept development, and execution across print and digital platforms, with UX/UI considerations integrated as part of broader design practice.
  • Experience supporting the development of designers craft, UX thinking, confidence, and judgment, encouraging growth in both visual design fundamentals and digital design skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and distribute design work across projects in a way that balances quality, timelines, team capacity, and equitable opportunities for designers to grow and stretch their skills.
  • Experience contributing to or supporting the evolution of design systems, visual standards, or shared patterns to promote consistency, quality, and brand alignment across a large organization.
  • Ability to apply UX/UI and accessibility principles independently, using sound judgment to inform design decisions that improve usability, clarity, and effectiveness across graphic design driven and digital projects.
  • Experience collaborating with and guiding stakeholders through the design process, helping shape project strategy, align goals, and translate complex needs into clear creative direction and solutions.
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and creative rationale, focusing on visual problem solving, audience needs, and brand integrity rather than tools or trends.

Proposed Salary

Salary: $74,966.00- $105,000.00
