POSITION DESCRIPTION

Greenfield High School is seeking a full-time Athletics and Activities Director. The Athletics and Activities Director provides vision & leadership for the school''s comprehensive athletics and student activities programs, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, sportsmanship, and student engagement. This position oversees the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all interscholastic athletics and co-curricular activities while ensuring compliance with district policies, Woodland Conference regulations, and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association rules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Athletics and Activities Director performs duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provides leadership for all interscholastic athletic programs and student activities, ensuring they align with the district''s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs that promote student participation, leadership development, school connectedness, and positive school culture.

  • Supervises and evaluates athletic coaches, advisors, and activity sponsors while providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.

  • Oversees the hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of coaches and activity advisors.

  • Ensures compliance with district policies, conference bylaws, and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association regulations, including eligibility, safety, and reporting requirements.

  • Develops and administers the athletics and activities budget, including purchasing, inventory management, fundraising oversight, and financial accountability.

  • Coordinates schedules, transportation, officials, facilities, event management, and supervision for athletic contests and student activities.

  • Collaborates with facilities, maintenance, transportation, and community partners to ensure successful events.

  • Promotes equitable access and opportunities for all students to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.

  • Builds positive relationships with students, families, coaches, staff, officials, booster organizations, and community partners.

  • Oversees student eligibility related to academic performance, attendance, residency, and behavioral expectations.

  • Responds to parent, student, coach, and community concerns in a productive, timely, professional, and solution-oriented manner.

  • Coordinates recognition programs, awards, athletic signing events, Hall of Fame activities, and student leadership initiatives.

  • Ensures all athletic facilities and equipment are safe, well-maintained, and meet applicable standards.

  • Oversees the management and operation of the Greenfield Fitness Center.

  • Develops emergency action plans and oversees risk management procedures for athletic and extracurricular events.

  • Represents Greenfield High School at conference, district, and state meetings and serves as the school''s liaison with governing athletic organizations.

  • Collaborates with school administration to support a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Supervises athletic contests, performances, dances, and other school-sponsored events as assigned.

  • Collects and analyzes participation, budget, student performance and program data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Serves as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, ethical leadership, and a commitment to student-centered decision making.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to equity, inclusion, ethical principles, and democratic values in all aspects of leadership.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must minimally hold an active teaching certification with a willingness to pursue administrative licensure upon hire, if administrative license isn''t currently held.
