Primary PurposeProvide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in sport assigned contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics.QualificationsEducationCertificationBachelor&rsquos degree from an accredited college or university preferredValid Texas teaching certificatepreferredCommercial Driver License Preferred-CDLSpecial KnowledgeSkillsEffective communication interpersonal and public relations skillsGeneral knowledge of coaching techniques and proceduresKnowledge of University Interscholastic League UIL rulesAbility to instruct and supervise student athletesExcellent organizational skillsExperienceMinimum of 4 years experience as coach or participant in sport assignedMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructionUse a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.Manage and supervise athletic activities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills teamwork and good sportsmanship.Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.Program ManagementMaintain certifications in C.P.R. C.O.P.E. first aid lightning training.Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes equipment materials and facilities.Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.Oversee process of cleaning repairing and storing all campus athletic equipment.Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.Student ManagementAccompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests at practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.CommunicationEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.AdministrationAssist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders students teachers administrators and coworkers.Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors to ensure the goals of the department are met.Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication i.e. email written and verbal.Personal Growth and Work HabitsStay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.Research district policy precedent and current practices prior to taking action.Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district department and content goals.Demonstrate integrity and ethics.Display proficient levels of technology applications.Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.Maintain punctuality in daily work times appointments and meetings.Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.Perform all other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.Working ConditionsMental DemandsEffective communication ability to maintain emotional and professional control in all circumstancesPhysical DemandsEnvironmental FactorsFrequent districtwide and statewide travel frequent prolonged and irregular hours outdoor exposure to sun and heat
