Job Description Summary
Lewis University, an NCAA Division II institution located 35 miles southwest of Chicago and a proud member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), invites applications for the position of Athletic Communications Assistant. The Lewis Flyers are a nationally recognized athletics program, consistently finishing among the Learfield Directors' Cup Top 20 and consecutive winner of the past three GLVC Commissioner's Cup titles.
Under the supervision of the athletic communications staff, the Athletic Communications Assistant will support the athletics communications office through content creation, digital storytelling, statistical coverage, social media management, and day-to-day operational support across the department. This position will serve as a key communications resource for varsity athletic programs while assisting with departmental branding, media relations, and promotional initiatives. The position is designed as a one-year internship opportunity intended to expand institutional capacity while providing meaningful professional development within collegiate athletics administration.

Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY MAY INCLUDE:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail required. Experience with social media platforms, content creation, athletics statistics software, and/or athletic communications operations preferred. Ability to work nights and weekends as required by athletic event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or enrollment in a graduate program in Sports Management, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in collegiate athletics communications, media relations, social media management, graphic design, photography, or event operations preferred. Familiarity with NCAA statistics programs, website management systems, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
